Preventive Maintenance

Scheduled Maintenance & Diagnostic Checks

Staying ahead of problems instead of reacting to them

01Section 01

The 3,000-mile / 90-day check

The baseline visit: an oil and filter change, a check on all fluid levels and conditions, tire pressure across all four corners, a look at every belt and hose in the engine bay, and lubrication of the chassis points where the vehicle has them. It's the smallest recurring visit and the one that keeps every other interval on track.

02Section 02

The 10,000-mile / annual check

Everything from the baseline visit, plus a full filter replacement across air, fuel, and PCV; chassis lubrication; a brake and wheel bearing check; valve adjustment where the engine calls for it; a full leak inspection; and replacement of plugs, points, cap, and rotor along with other tune-up and emission items. We also check the engine thermostat, every belt including the timing belt where applicable, and the cooling system's hoses and fluid.

03Section 03

The 20,000-mile / two-year check

Everything from the annual visit, plus replacing the automatic transmission fluid on vehicles that use petroleum-based fluid, cleaning the transmission filter, magnets, and screen, and bleeding the brakes to clear out any contaminants and refresh the fluid. This is the visit that resets the clock on the largest systems in the car.

An honest read before any wrench turns.

04Section 04

Why this schedule matters more than any single repair

Most of the auto repairs people end up needing could have been avoided with these checks done on schedule rather than skipped. It's not glamorous, and it doesn't feel urgent — until the day it does, at which point it's a tow bill instead of an oil change.

05Section 05

Central Automotive's approach

Thorough without cutting corners, and upfront about what's actually needed at each interval rather than padding the list. If your car is doing fine at 12,000 miles between visits, we'll tell you. If it needs more attention than the interval suggests, we'll tell you that too.

06Section 06

What a diagnostic check involves

OBD-II scanning of every module the car has, not just the powertrain, and a real explanation of what the equipment is finding. A code readout on its own is not a diagnosis — it's a starting point. The diagnosis is the technician telling you, in plain language, what the car is actually asking for.

An honest read before any wrench turns.

Done at five means done at five

Every job at Central Automotive is quoted before the wrenches come out. If we tell you it will be done at five, it will be done at five — and the number we quote is the number you pay. No mid-job phone calls tacking on parts you didn't agree to, no surprises when you come to pick the car up.

Written estimate before any work begins, on every scheduled maintenance & diagnostic checks job.
